I was having a perfectly fine day at work today — I took my student assistant to lunch for fajitas and a little heart-to-heart vis-a-vis the whole subject of the future. I actually managed to get quite a bit done (and, more importantly, actually worked an ENTIRE day, shock shock). Then, about a quarter to quittin’ time, I decided to do something that, turns out, opened up a whole ‘nother can of worms.
The end result was that I found out our webmaster e-mail account has gone unchecked for a year, and has filled up, and has approximately 13,644 unread messages. Why? Something got all FUBAR, and nobody (mysteriously, argh) can figure out what or why.
I was told that, to solve the problem, I would need to use Webmail to delete out the old messages. Webmail allows me to view up to 25 messages at a time. So, by my quick and dirty (and mathematically challenged) calculations, that would require scrolling through/deleting approximately 546 screens of e-mails.
CRAP.
Then I had a most frustrating commute home — I’m ready to maim anyone found to be committing the deadly sin of rubbernecking, mmkay? — and got home not five minutes after Daniel had left for class. Frustrating as all hell.
The remedy? “In Her Shoes” with Daniel’s sister Lisa. It was a terrific movie, very well done and well acted, with an incredible cast, and provided (most importantly) more than two hours of extremely welcomed distraction.
Sanity always prevails over productivity. At least, it does for me. ALWAYS.
