{geekette post}
Earlier in the year, I was enlisted to help with an interactive Web-based tour of TWU’s burgeoning collection of artwork. As the project has developed over these last several months, I have become increasingly worried about the requirements of the project as compared to my skill set. Sure, I’ve done little tiny things in Flash before, but nothing complicated or requiring any level of Action Scripting. On some level, my lack of expertise / experience has been a lack of necessity; most of the Web things I’ve done over the years have been a lot less glitzy than your average action-scripted Flash movie.
With much pleading on my part, I convinced my boss to let me stay home yesterday to get this tour working … and after many months of mulling, several weeks of worrying, and one late night of working, I’m happy to say that when I showed the tour to the chancellor’s assistant and to my boss this morning, both were delighted. Filled with praise. As was I — especially after seeing their reaction!
I couldn’t have done this without the good folks at a place called Flashloaded, who provided a Flash component that proved integral to the final product.
I still have several tweaks / text changes to make before it’s ready to show the chancellor, but she expects this to be online before classes begin Jan. 18, so I’ll have a URL for y’all in a month or so and will share then. 🙂 You can pretend to care or not — I promise not to be offended if you don’t.
