Daniel and I are on our way back (as I type this!) to Texas after having spent three days in Nashville plotting our move later this year, and I have big news. This afternoon, we came to an agreement with a home builder on a new house just south of Nashville!
It was all just so unexpected, and such a whirlwind. Until Monday afternoon, we had only just barely made contact with a realtor in Nashville, and Wednesday we spent the entire day with her, looking at existing homes on the market before going out to a development that is nearing completion (of around 60 total plots, they have about seven left to sell) to take a peek.
The floorplan we chose is slightly larger than our current house in Allen, and is three bedrooms/two baths like we have now. While the sales price will end up being just a smidge higher than we paid for the house in Allen, we’ve learned that our property taxes will be less than half of what we pay now, the insurance will be less than half, and our electricity will be about half the cost. In other words, even a more expensive and brand-new house will cost us substantially less in Nashville. Amazing!
I posted some pictures and the floorplan on Daniel’s photo album, available here. This is a model that’s two doors down from where our house will be that is the same floorplan and elevation/architecture of the one we’ve chosen. We got an amazing deal from the builder, and will get $20,000 in options free. In addition, the builder will give us up to 3% of the sales price in closing costs.
There’s lots more to share, but this is the big news and what I primarily wanted to share. It was a busy but very productive week-long vacation/trip! 🙂
