Do you ever have a word knocking around in your head that feels like the right word, even though you’re not sure why?
I’ve been thinking about Lewis Black a lot lately (’cause we went to see him Friday, and all), and the word I’ve been wanting to use to describe him is apoplectic. I wasn’t totally sure I knew WHY that was the word I most wanted to use, because I couldn’t give you a precise definition on my own.
So, I decided to look it up. And here’s what Dictionary.com says:
ap·o·plec·tic – adj.
Of, resembling, or produced by apoplexy: an apoplectic fit.
Having or inclined to have apoplexy.
Exhibiting symptoms associated with apoplexy.
Extremely angry; furious: “members of Congress who otherwise become apoplectic about wasteful government spending.”
