smarting

I love the verb smart. So often, smart is used as an adjective (or a little ditty, S-M-R-T!)… rarely do I hear anyone use the verb form, which is too bad. I’m smarting this morning, which by definition means something happened I wasn’t expecting. I generally abhor surprises, and this is no different.
