Over the weekend, Daniel, Lisa and I went to see “The Family Stone” on opening weekend (which, in contrast to King Kong, did NOT surprise me in the least). I expected it to be good, but I wasn’t expecting to laugh as hard as I did (or as much as I did), or to be …
annual rant.
It’s time for an annual rant about one of the many so-called health professionals I consider to be the licensed equivalent of voodoo magicians. Namely, optometrists. Yes, today was my annual eye exam. I’ve found it’s to my benefit to do this annually, so the drastic degradation in my vision appears more of a natural …
King Kong: see it? only once.
Last night, I went to see King Kong on opening day. This surprised even me, since every time I saw the preview for it I turned to Daniel and said, “I have no desire to see that movie.” But I went anyway, because he wanted to and that’s the kind of girl I am. I …
choreographed Christmas
Daniel heard about this house in Frisco from his boss, so we drove by last night to see. They painstakingly choreographed their 4+ miles of lights & wiring to two songs, and it’s really pretty cool. Our lights, by contrast, are FAR less impressive.
a few recommendations.
Yesterday, I did two things I’ve been wanting to do for what seems like weeks now: 1) I finished a book that wasn’t assigned for a class. It was Jennifer Weiner‘s latest novel, “Goodnight Nobody” — she’s the author who wrote the novel on which the new movie, “In Her Shoes,” was based. The latest …
on the road again … for the last time. (here)
Well, today I’m in Houston for what will be my last time on the state’s dime. I left Sunday evening so I wouldn’t have to deal with an obscenly early wake-up call again. It’s a relatively quick trip, though; I’ll be home before rush hour tomorrow. My first dispatch from Houston is a total surprise …
from George
This picture is hilarious. And SO my brother.
not much of a yankee
Gary tipped me off to this quiz, which I just took, and which declares I’m 65% southerner, or “Just under the Mason-Dixon Line.” Sounds about right. And as for the spelling test (who could resist?), I only managed an 85%. However, I would just like to say (for the record) that I fundamentally believe the …
back to reality.
Thank goodness for DVD collections. We spent the “snow days” watching season five of The West Wing (one of my favorite TV indulgences), which only just came out on DVD this Tuesday. Talk about great timing! My 36 hours of work reprieve were a fantastic early Christmas present to celebrate the end of school. We …
an (icy) revelation
I may not have fully figured out how to prevent myself from becoming homeless post-working-at-TWU, but I did figure out one thing this morning: Not working in Denton is going to rachet down my stress level about 10 notches. Take today, for example. We all know/knew today was going to bring freezing precipitation to north …
