We all know how much I LOVE mornings (not at all), so you can imagine my sheer joy at being up at this hour. Stupid me, I booked myself on Southwest Flight #1 (seriously) to Houston at 7 a.m. today. D’oh! I forgot I normally take the 8 a.m. flight. Ah, well. I’m gonna get …
a “war” it was not.
I was informed that, had I properly prepared for seeing “War of the Worlds” this afternoon by having watched the original movie — preferrable, presumably, to having read the book — I would have been less surprised that the so-called “war” wasn’t really a war at all. Still, my review of my late Saturday afternoon …
damn, it’s early…
especially (see time post) to have been in Denton for nearly 25 minutes, and to have showered, gotten dressed, stumbled out the door with clothes for moving assistance later, AND having picked up breakfast en route to Denton. I detest getting out of bed before sunrise. It’s just WRONG. Which is why I had to …
weekend trip in pictures
I’ve posted the more interesting of the weekend (reunion/Arkansas) pictures I have to my Yahoo photo album, so you can check those out. However, here are my favorites, in chronological order. Bennett Law Firm headquarters Daniel at Tommy’s law office in Conway My parents’ house in Piggott, Ark. Part of the “fun” in going to …
the aftermath of my “so you wanna be a Web person?” speech
Last week, I blogged about a speech I gave to a group of eighth- and ninth-grade girls about my job as a Web person. I was somewhat concerned about the extent to which I reached them … I mean, teenage girls aren’t necessarily the easiest audience to make a clear point to, right? Anyway, today …
oof.
One of my coworkers gave me a birthday card with one of the funniest pictures I’ve ever seen on the front. Inside it said, “Ah, nuts! I missed your birthday!” (For the record, she gave it to me the *day after* my birthday — that’s essentially on time in my book!!) Anyway, I’ve been meaning …
Seven-freaking-thirty!
Saturday at TWU, we’re having an open house / information sessions for all our online degree programs. Really, it’s going to be *great*. EXCEPT for the fact that, because registration opens at 8:30, I’ve been told I must be present and awake IN DENTON at SEVEN THIRTY (yes, 7:30!) a.m. Saturday. Egads. I’m tired just …
all animals accounted for — whew.
Since Zoe magically discovered the secret to the doggy door less than 24 hours before our departure for Arkansas and other points north last week, we were somewhat concerned we’d come home yesterday and find one or more of the animals MIA. Happily, that was not the case. We arrived back to Plano last night …
ups and downs
It’s summertime, I’m not taking classes, and my workload is lower than usual. So life should be really easy right now, right? Alas, for whatever unknown reasons, it’s just *not*. And I don’t mean that I’m miserable — far from it. In fact, I’d say life is going pretty well … I’m looking forward to …
ouch!
That’s what I felt like I went through this morning at my dentist’s office for a tooth cleaning. I was told to expect soreness for at least 2-3 days. UGH. I swear, I absolutely totally freaking HATE going to the dentist.
