The reports of people waiting in long lines to vote today just makes me swell with pride. Americans really seem to care about the outcome of the election this year. And I couldn’t possibly be happier about that.
Another Norell in headlines
My uncle Gene made the news today in my hometown. He’s retiring from the telephone company after 33 years working there. Incidentally, my dad worked at the same place for gobs of years as well, as did their dad. Now, no Norells work for CenturyTel anymore (that I know of).
hang out with Jon tonight!
They’ve broken the bank advertising this, but just in case you hadn’t heard, Comedy Central‘s doing an hour-long live broadcast of The Daily Show tonight to cover election stuff. Jon Stewart said last night that it’s a pain in the butt to write three endings: Kerry wins, Kerry loses, civil war. But apparently, they’re gonna …
mixers
I just never knew that a Kitchen Aid mixer could inspire grown men to coo. Apparently, though, it does. Go figure! 🙂
Maybe I *am* an FOB?
I went home at lunch today to do some yard sale prep and otherwise enjoy the comforts of my apartment for a short while. I noticed I had a voicemail waiting for me, so I cued up the speakerphone and started punching numbers. Lo and behold, who should have called — and I missed it!! …
Another set of firsts

What does it all mean?
Will the Redskins election predictor, now 68 years accurate, survive another presidential campaign year? We’ll know before much longer. Yesterday was the first time I ever was happy about Green Bay winning a game — or the Redskins losing. 🙂
Let’s revisit the Harrison game…
The Baxter Bulletin just posted a photo gallery of the Bombers victory over Harrison in September. Also, Mountain Home broke their multi-game losing streak Friday night by beating the Forrest City Mustangs 35-19 at Bomber Stadium. Go Bombers! Whenever I think of Forrest City, I’m reminded of my friend Craig Flowers from Governor’s School, who …
One of my favorite words
Each morning, I get a Word-a-Day e-mail from Dictionary.com. I rarely take much time to peruse the daily word because, in addition to not having the time, most of the words I already know. Today’s is one such word, but I love it so much I thought I’d share. cavort kuh-VORT, intransitive verb: 1. To …
Netflix teams up with TiVo
This may be the most compelling argument I’ve heard to switch to TiVo. And Netflix. (From ReplayTV and Blockbuster, respectively.)
