We’re talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas plans, I’ve got less than a month to write three major papers plus make major revisions/additions to a fourth, and need to grade a stack of exams. It must be (almost) November!
School is racheting up for the final push, due in large part to the fact that UTD finishes quickly after Thanksgiving (the last of my school commitments is due Dec. 1), and so things in that department are many kinds of scary on this Halloween Eve.
Today is Daniel’s birthday (it seems impolite to say how old he is today), and this weekend his mom is coming up from San Antonio to spend the weekend with us.
Election Day is just eight days away, and so I’m just riveted by the rush of poll results and talking heads. We participated in early voting Saturday, and now I’m just waiting to see how it all shakes out. I expect to be disappointed by Texas races, as usual, but on the whole I have tremendous hope. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I won’t go to bed on election night depressed, as I have the last few go-rounds. And let’s not forget about the most exciting race of all — my mom’s reelection bid for city council. I wonder if the Mountain Home election officials will be updating a Web site regularly on Nov. 7 with returns?
Finally…. hmm. I forgot what my “finally” closer was going to be. Oh well. Happy Monday, all!
