I’ve had people make comments to me in the past about my appetite for highlighting. Naturally, this is a behavior reserved for school-related writing (I don’t carry a highlighter around with my latest Nicholas Sparks or John Irving read, promise!).
And yesterday, during my marathon festival of reading, I literally — AM NOT EXAGGERATING — ran FOUR yellow highlighters out of ink. Two were already pretty low from former semesters in school. Two, though, were brand-spankin’-new ones I bought not two weeks ago.
Four highlighters. One day.
So, I’m off to buy highlighters during my lunch break at work… ’cause that’s among the few activities that, as I understand the ways in which my life is changing, I now do regularly:
1) Buy highlighters.
2) Print off articles, at a paper consumption rate of about 200-300 pages per printing session.
3) Buy binders in which to file said papers.
4) Punch holes in said papers.
5) Read said papers.
6) Buy more highlighters.
7) Buy printer toner.
4. Pilfer reams of three-hole paper from office 🙂
