Last night, I went with Rachelle to see the Water Tower Theater‘s latest offering, “Living Out.” The story was about a woman from El Salvador who is seeking work as a nanny in Los Angeles, needing money so she can bring her second son to the US from back home. It was hilarious, touching, and had a sad ending — it was all I could do to limit myself to just a few tears. The acting? Superb. The lead actress was extremely, extremely good — as was the actress playing the gringa she ended up working for.
Apart from that, the always awesome set (WTT has such amazing set designers), and great script, one of my favorite parts was the guy playing the husband — I had seen him recently playing the smarter of the pair in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (I THINK he was Guildenstern?? But, even they’re not entirely certain of that.) He was SO good in R&S and was also quite adroit in this role. Plus, he’s super cute — so there’s that, too. 🙂
