It’s not why everyone’s talking about Newsweek this week, but I read this morning this quote from Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, about his new weight-loss book, “Quit Digging Your Grave With a Knife and Fork” (which sounds to me like an attempt to make money stating the obvious):
“I changed from saying ‘I need to lose weight’ to ‘I need to get healthy.’
DUH.
President Clinton called me three weeks ago out of the blue.
Non sequitur, much? Name dropping, much?
I was stunned. We have a good relationship, but I’m not expecting him to pop in and say howdy.
And he didn’t. HE CALLED.
He said what I’d done personally was impressive,
Notice he didn’t say what you’ve done is impressive. Only that what you’ve done personally is impressive.
and he asked me to serve with him as co-chair of this anti-obesity campaign sponsored by the American Heart Association.”
