MH-Van Buren a mirror matchup

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the toughest with the ball?
That may be the question pondered most by Mountain Home head football coach Shane Patrick and his adversary Eddie Tipton of Van Buren all week.
When the Bombers (2-0) host the Pointers (1-1) tonight at Bomber Stadium in the teams’ first meeting since 1988, both teams will feature Wishbone offenses and similar defenses.
“They’re going to look exactly like we will (tonight),” explained Patrick. “They run the Wishbone and they’ll run the option right at us. We’ve got to be able to handle that and play assignment football on defense.

Both teams enter their final nonconference contest coming off huge wins. The Bombers defeated Harrison by a 34-18 count to end the 19-year streak, while Van Buren upset Little Rock McClellan by a 21-15 score. Mountain Home went 1-9 last year, while Van Buren was 0-10. Lewis Carroll would be proud of the matchup.
