Yesterday was quite a day. I got some good news:
- I get to hire a student assistant to help me at work! This is HUGE and something I’ve been secretly coveting for ages now.
- The director of the Ph.D. program in political science at UTD sent me a response to an e-mail encouraging me to apply now, without first getting a master’s in poli sci. I did a little happy dance!
And then, unfortunately, was the bad news:
- Apparently, my old Gateway computer — which was slated to become our new server at the house — erupted into flames and smoke. Literally. That REALLY sucks.
- Apparently, my network card in my Dell desktop is also smoked. (Not literally.) My desktop hasn’t had Internet access for two or three days and it’s driving me nuts. You know how I get when my toys don’t work.
- I got a big fat “NO WAY” response to my query about adjusting my work schedule for the semester so I can do my practicum at CCCCD. Major bummer. I’m looking into other options now — perhaps the TWU library?
