Shadows of our former selves.

I’ve said it many times over the last eight or nine months, and I’ll say it again now: 2004 is shaping up to be the best year of my life. And apparently, I’m not the only one feeling better inside and out.

I say that because of something I read in my hometown newspaper, the Baxter Bulletin, from earlier this week. A fellow class of ’95 MHHS alum, Aimee Morrell, wrote a very honest article about losing weight, something she’s actually spent the last two years working on. Aimee and I were band geekettes together, but we were never close friends — having a Norell and a Morrell in the same graduating class was confusing enough without us hanging out together, too. She probably revealed more about herself in that article than she ever did while we were going through school together.

Incidentally, the friend Scott she refers to from Springdale? He’s also a friend of mine, from my days moving in northern Arkansas journalism circle (esp. sports journalism). Unfortunately, with those in that circle, I’ve lost almost total touch. It’s a major bummer.
