I watched almost all of last night’s final presidential debate, and was impressed by both Bush and Kerry. Clearly, on their third tour, both men were far more comfortable with the process and did a significantly better job (I think) than either did in the first debate in making an impassioned, reasoned, clear argument about why they should be elected.
I came away from watching the debate with the impression that, if anything, neither man “won” the debate … it seemed to me that both improved on their weaknesses and clarified their positions.
However, I read a fantastic analysis of the debate this morning that suggests Kerry hit a “grand slam” with his performance last night. {shrug} Read the article — what do you think?
PS: I appropriated the blog title here from one of my most favorite books of all time, Jim Lehrer’s novel “The Last Debate.” It’s the hilarious story of a presidential campaign, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves this sort of thing. 🙂
I like when bush tries to tell jokes. The problem is most of the time these jokes are for the wealthy elite at the country club or hunting trip whatever you like. When ask the question about rising healthcare costs he was asked who is going to pay for it?. Bush:” I surly hope it is not the administration." So I had enough and left.
