I don’t know the official historical stats, but my father says he cannot remember the Mountain Home Bombers ever winning six games in a row.
And now, they have.
That’s right, faithful LizBlog followers: My high school alma mater football team brought their winning streak to six games last night. They beat Cabot for the first time in school history, defeating the Cabot Panthers at their own homecoming and bringing their conference record to a stunning 4-0.
Here’s the traditional snippet from the Baxter Bulletin sports story:
Bombers run win streak to six
CABOT — The flight pattern continued in a winning direction as the Mountain Home Bombers buzzed the Cabot Panthers’ Homecoming and came away with a 21-13 victory Friday night in AAAAA-East Conference play.
Mountain Home’s win was the team’s sixth straight in a stellar 6-1 season and its first ever over Cabot. The Bombers also remain perfect in the AAAAA-East with a 4-0 record. Cabot falls to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the league.
“You can’t describe how much this win means to our team and our program,” said Mountain Home head coach Shane Patrick. “Each week our team keeps stepping up and accepting the challenge.
“To come out here and beat Cabot in their own house on Homecoming night is just huge,” he continued. “And this is a good Cabot team. They’re record doesn’t show it, but I’m sure they’ll make the playoffs this year.”
