the first sport I loved…

Growing up, my cousin Tracy and I loved everything about baseball. We watched the Braves on TBS and collected Topps baseball cards for years. She lusted after Mark Grace, while I preferred the likes of Dale Murphy. Tracy had a natural aptitude for softball that only grew over time; I, on the other hand, ran away from the ball and got stuck in right field when I had my short and unsuccessful attempt at playing softball.

Still, I have always loved watching baseball games, particularly MLB games. I have many fond memories of sitting in the cheap seats at MLB games with people whose company I enjoy…

Which is why, tonight, I’m headed to The Ballpark at Arlington (call it Ameriquest Field if you MUST) for TWU night at the Rangers. They’re playing the Mariners. I’d love to see the Rangers win, but regardless of how the game turns out, I’m just excited to be catching a game before the summer heat becomes oppressive with other TWU folks.

Go Rangers!

  1. Hey what can I say? Maybe I got a little skill out there. I still play for i'm playing this season in Korea before I head back to the states in Aug. Lou and I will be heading to our first MLB game in September at Camden Yards, when the Orioles play the Red Sox. Since Mark Grace has retired I have moved onto another great looking man in Johnny Damon on the Red Sox, but this time I got to root for the O's.

Tracy could sure hit those home runs, couldn't see? I am glad she was on my team for at least a year or so!
