So today was the latest installment of the YAP book club, which in the 14 or 15 months I’ve been coordinating has only been cancelled once due to lack of interest. For the last week, I’ve been publicly singing the praises of March’s selection, “A Certain Chemistry” … and I was certainly looking forward to hear others’ assessments of the book.
However, since we’re planning to have a garage sale next weekend (heathens that we are, to have a yard sale Easter weekend) and needed to get some yard work done this weekend, I felt somewhat guilty leaving it all to Daniel for a couple of hours while I scurried off to have my cerebral fun.
I was back much sooner than I’d anticipated, though, because of the eight of us who’d RSVPd for today’s event, I was the only blasted one who showed up. I ate my soup and drank my two glasses of water in total quiet, which took nearly exactly sixteen minutes (which I thought was pretty funny … and the reason why, if you’re curious, is explained within these excerpts from the book), and then left.
So … I got stood up by seven people? Bad. I got to come back home sooner than ancitipated for Saturday afternoon outdoor fun? Good. All in all, I’d call it a wash.
