We had a few people over to watch the Super Bowl last night. Daniel cooked up fajita meat and we made quesadillas between commercials. Everyone agreed this year’s crop of commercials were significantly less impressive than other years … but the game was close, the company was wonderful, and I actually managed to clean up pretty much everything before I went to bed. (Aside: that NEVER happens!)
On the whole, the weekend was really good. It was a lot of what I was needing — escape from work and school — but little of what I needed to get done (homework, etc.). However, sometimes mental health trumps productivity, and that’s what happened the last two days.
After helping with a Habitat service project Saturday morning and going to the DMA‘s Splendors of the Forbidden City exhibit that afternoon, Daniel and I felt inspired to eat at BD’s Mongolian Barbeque, which was quite good. I saw some signage that inspired me to ask for more information about their Guest Griller program, wherein groups can come in and help out at the grill in exchange for all the tips raised that night. I’m thinking this would be an EXCELLENT project for the Habitat students. Don’t you?
