The Mountain Home Bombers built a 21-0 lead and the battled turnovers and fatigue to post a 21-14 win over the Marion Patriots Friday evening in their high school football season opener at Patriot Stadium.
Second-year head coach Shane Patrick couldn’t have scripted the opening half any better, but the second half seemed straight out of a Stephen King novel.
Mountain Home took the game’s opening kickoff and returned it to the 44-yard line and found paydirt just four plays later.
“Our kids came out and played well right off the bat,” said Patrick via cellphone after the game. “We had things rolling and they were giving us things defensively and we were taking advantage of it.”

“This goes a long way to set the tone for what we want to do with our season,” said Patrick of the win. “When you start out 1-0, you start out on the winning end and you don’t have any disappointment early. It will really help our momentum going into week two.”
Mountain Home now returns to Bomber Stadium for Friday’s home opener against the Harrison Golden Goblins (1-0).
