I don’t really believe in making new year’s resolutions, but for all practical purposes, my list of things to do in 2012 is working as a list of resolutions… and I’m okay with that. So here we go — subject to revision as the year progresses:
- Rock climbing — give ‘er a whirl!
Groupon secured!
- Figure out the PhD situation.
My current strategem calls for a return to UT-Dallas for comprehensive exams and a dissertation, starting in fall 2012. I’ll keep y’all posted.
- Go kayaking in the summer.
It was just too much fun last summer not to do again!
- Collect more data and finish up the dissents to denials of cert paper I took to San Francisco in April 2010. Then send it out for review.
Cindy isn’t around anymore to scowl at me and tell me I need to focus, lest she not know who I am anymore. I know who I am, and it’s someone who likes researching diverse things. Hmpf.
- Make some friends who I haven’t first met online.
Does Meetup count? I think it counts. Totally.
- Relatedly: join a book club or two.
I’m having trouble finding one that works with my schedule, so I may just need to start one. We’ll see.
- Learn the guitar.
I’ve even got a guitar!
- Learn to knit.
I want to do this with my little sister.
- Give rollerblading another try.
After some additional work on roller skates with the little sister, I think I’ll be ready to give the rollerblades another whirl. Maybe the third time’s the charm?!
- Specific weight-loss goals. <—- Is this too cliched? Maybe so.
I’m doing well with these. I plan to keep working on them.
- Make some progress on the Trent Baylor story.
I think it’s heading in a good direction, and if I could just find some time where I’m free and can focus, it would be delightful to see where it might lead.
