Yesterday, between naps and episodes of season 4 Frasier, I finished the last few pages of this month’s book club book, “A Certain Chemistry” by Mil Millington.
I don’t say this often, folks, but this book was *fucking* hilarious.
Seriously.
(And if my potty mouth offends, first see the Ground Rules and then blame the total corruptive nature of Daniel and AnnaLisa teamed up on me this weekend.)
Mil is best known for his Web site about his girlfriend Margaret, aka Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About. To read more from Mil about the novel, check this page out.
Whilst reading this book, I resisted the constant urge to highlight, underline, Post-It, or bent-corner mark pages with particularly insightful passages. Because the WHOLE BOOK seemed, to me, to be chock full of insightful passages.
Rarely do I read fiction that makes me feel inspired to get off my lazy butt and write … but this book did just that. For that, it joins company with only two other books in the history of my lifetime as a reader.
(And for the curious, those two books are On Writing by Stephen King and A Widow for One Year by John Irving.)
Definitely pick this book up, mates. You will not regret a page of it.
